Quark model of the NN interaction
Description
The quark cluster model approach to the baryon-baryon interaction is reviewed. The model incorporates full antisymmetrization among valence quarks and takes into account the exchange interaction completely. It explains the strong-short repulsion between two nucleons. State dependence of the short-range baryon-baryon interaction is understood as being based on the spin-flavor symmetry structure. Various extensions of the model for the realistic nuclear force are discussed. Application to the spin-orbit interaction is briefly reviewed. Nucleon size modification in the quark cluster model is presented and related to a simple argument on the relation between the size change and the nucleon interaction
