Description
Actively cooled plasma facing components armoured with carbon fibre composite flat tiles have been developed for Tore Supra Tokamak since 1994. After fabrication of prototypes successively tested in a high heat flux test bed the special bond between the carbon tiles and the hardened copper of the heat sink was particularly studied. Since 1997, 660 elements are in fabrication. The infrared acceptance test underlines the importance of the heat treatment during the manufacture and revealed some unexplained cracked tiles. (orig.)
