Phase interaction and glass formation in the system Tl-Cd-As

Description

Glass formation in the Tl-Cd-As system is studied in the range of partial system Tl-CdAs2-As. The state diagram of Tl-CdAs2 quasi-binary cross section is built, the position of the fields of initial phase separation in the Tl-CdAs2- As system being evaluated. Possible reasons for glass formation in the system are discussed. Of all the studied alloys only the sample of the composition 70 mol.% TlAs+30 mol.% CdAs2 has been prepared completely glass-like by the melt quenching in the air in the spread of approximately 3 mm thick
