Incidence and differential diagnosis of intracranial calcifications in the computed tomogram

8540 patients were examined by computerized tomography in the period between November 1978 and February 1981. 158 cases of pathological intracranial calcification were found. After confirmation of the diagnosis, the incidence of calcification as related to the various pathological intracranial changes was determined. Problems of differential diagnosis were discussed in view of the different morphologies of the calcified structures. In a few cases, it was impossible to make an ultimate etiological statement. Abstract (German)

Im Zeitraum von November 1978 bis Februar 1981 wurden 8540 Patienten computertomographisch untersucht, dabei konnten 158 pathologische intrakranielle Verkalkungen beobachtet werden. Nach Diagnosesicherung wird die relative Haeufigkeit der Kalkeinlagerungen bei den verschiedenen krankhaften intrakraniellen Veraenderungen angegeben. Differentialdiagnostische Ueberlegungen werden anhand der unterschiedlichen Morphologie der verkalkten Strukturen angestellt. In seltenen Faellen ist eine endgueltige aetiologische Klaerung trotz intensiver Durchuntersuchung nicht moeglich. (orig.)
