Coal and nuclear power
Description
In an assessment of the future of coal and nuclear energy a proposal is made for a total reappraisal of the role of nuclear power in the UK, and for a development programme reoriented to new objectives. The strong availability of fossil fuels in the next decade or two will, it is suggested, provide an opportunity for further thinking about nuclear fuel supplies, recycling, the fast breeder reactor, and whether Britain should 'go it alone' in the more advanced and expensive areas of nuclear development.
