Variational estimation of the mass gap in U(1) and SU(2) gauge theories in 2+1 dimensions
Description
A recently proposed variational Ansatz is used to compute plaquette-plaquette functions. The results are compared to Monte Carlo values [SU(2)] and to a rigorous result of Goepfert and Mack [U(1)]. (orig.)
