Fluoride-pyrocatechol complex of tantalum and its use in analysis

  • 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kiev. Inst. Kolloidnoj Khimii i Khimii Vody

Description

Spectrophotometric study of complex formation in the tantalum-hydrofluoric acid-pyrocatechol (H2R) system has been carried out. It is established that Ta(OH)2F2R- complex with lambdasub(max) = 305 nm is formed in this system. A photometric method is proposed for determining fluoride in niobium- and tantalum-containing solutions, based on the transformation of oxalate-pyrocatechinate complex of tantalum Ta(OH)2C2O4R- with lambdasub(max) = 397 nm into the Ts(OH)2F2R- complex. The Baer law is kept for 0.1-0.8 mg of HF in 10 ml of the final solution
