Gamma rays from thermal neutron capture in 86Kr
- 1. Nuclear Chemistry Division, Lawrence Livermore Laboratory, University of California, Livermore, California 94550
Description
The most intense γ rays from capture of thermal neutrons in 86Kr are measured with pair and Compton-suppressed spectrometers. The Q value for the reaction is found to be 5515.4 +- 0.8 keV and the reaction cross section is estimated to be about 3 mb. Energy levels of the 87Kr nucleus observed in this study are compared with those seen in reaction studies and in the β decay of 87Br
