Description

Usually the specific heat of dilute 3He-4He mixtures is compared to the specific heat of pure 4He and a Fermi-gas contribution of 3He quasiparticles, with a particular dispersion. We propose an alternative; the explicit introduction of the part of the Cv due to 3He-4He interactions, allows us to calculate this contribution, with a polaron model without adjustable parameters. Despite the fact that we did not yet take the Fermi statistics of 3He into account in this interaction Cv the agreement with the measured interaction part is satisfactory for temperatures well above the Fermi temperature.
