Thermal stresses in the metal-silicide coating system

Description

Calculation has been performed of thermal stresses in the refractory metal - silicide coating system (Mo-MoS2, W-WS2, Nb-NbS2, Ti-TiS2). It is shown for cylindrical samples that the circumferential and radial stresses reach the maximum at the boundary and decrease towards the coating surface. The absolute maximum values are observed for the radial stresses which result in surface cracking. Thermal stresses in the Ti-TiS2 system have been found to be minimum
