Effect of X-ray irradiation on the linear and nonlinear acoustic characteristics of triglycinesulfate
Description
Experimental study was made on the effect of radiation-induced defects, initiated by X-radiation, on linear and nonlinear properties of longitudinal and surface waves, propagating along TGS crystal axis. It is shown that several mechanisms of radiation-induced defect effect on anomalies of sound absorption in the phase transition region can be revealed depending on the value of absorbed dose. It is shown that amplitude anomaly of the second acoustic harmonic is suppressed effectively at low doses; this fact supports the fluctuation mechanism of this anomaly. High sensitivity of surface wave anomalies to radiation damage of the polar plane of TGS crystal is noted
