Sustainable development and the evolving agenda for environmental protection in the mining industry
Creators
Description
To implement even the most widely accepted principles of environmental protection, appropriate governmental and industry structures are needed. Examples relevant to the mining industry are given. Despite improved performance, the mining industry needs to take further steps to fully embrace the concept of sustainable development. Most important is the commitment to 'do the right thing', which has often been a motivating factor in the past. (author)
