On colour excitations of constituent quarks scattered on nuclear targets
Description
The simple additive quark model leads to long-range correlations in baryon number specific to multiple scatterng on nuclei when colours of constituents are considered. In this model, cross sections for annihilation of antiprotons on nuclei decrease with energy much more slowly than on hydrogen. The contribution of annihilation to the inelastic cross section at high energies is predicted to be proportional 30% for heavy nuclei. (orig.)
