Nonlinear realization and contraction of group representations

Description
We show that contraction of group representations leads to nonlinear realization of the invariance group. We discuss in detail the spontaneously broken SU(2) doublet model and the SO(n) model and finally we extend our analysis to local gauge theories. (orig.)
