Description
This study proposes a model about the migration of the radionuclides in the near field of a nuclear power plant. The radionuclides migration behavior in groundwater will be studied and also presented in this paper. The modeling was performed by using a simulation program, TOUGH2, which can analyze the multi-dimensional flow, heat flow in an unsaturated zone. The decay of radionuclides and the transportation of radionuclides in both gas and liquid phase were considered. This research will show the results of contamination of radionuclides from specific places due to some unpredictable events, such as, broken pipes, human negligence etc. A database has been created in order to provide suggestions when groundwater contamination occurred in NPPs. When radionuclides are detected in the soil, the database can help to determine where the contamination might have taken place in the plant
