Management of radioactive sealed source that are not used based on government regulation number 61 year 2013

Article 7 of Government Regulation No. 61 Year 2013 states that radioactive waste producers are required to perform the collection and classification of radioactive material encased unused and sent back to the country of origin or to submit to BATAN. While in chapter 12 mentioned that BATAN compulsory collection and grouping of radioactive substances are not used wrapped submitted by Producing Radioactive Waste. During the gathering and grouping BATAN can conduct a study with the aim to determine whether the radioactive material encased in radioactive substances can be used as reusable draped, wrapped radioactive substances that can be recycled or as radioactive waste. Especially for radioactive substances wrapped reusable or recyclable, its implementation must involve some work units that have BATAN human resources and facilities management needed. For purposes of this radioactive substance encased must get a safety assessment in accordance with the type of radioactive substances and designation. Study safety must be submitted to the Nuclear Energy Agency (BAPETEN). Furthermore, be prepared several documents required in the form of work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOP). While the stages of its activities include spending parcel wrapped radioactive substances from the storage warehouse in Radioactive Waste Technology Center (PTLR) and transport to the site of treatment or recycling location, implementation or handling of recycling, activity measurement and standardization of handling radioactive material encased results or recycled, preparation of containers for radioactive material encased result handling or recycling results, the issuance of certificates for handling radioactive material encased results or recycled packaging and handling of radioactive material encased results or recycled.
