Translocations yield in germ cells of male mice after single irradiation with deutrons 4.2 GeV/nuclon

Description
Sexually mature male mice F1 (CBAxC57Bl) e irradiated with deuterons with energy 4.2 GeV/nuclon (mean dose rate 0.8 rad/s) in doses of 25, 50, 100, 200 and 400 rad. A cytogenetic analysis of primordial spermatocytes in diakinesis-metaphase 1 was carried out 6 months after irradiation. Translocations induced on the premeiotic stages were thus recorded as multivalents in the form of rings or chains. It was found that in the tested dose range the yield of translocations showed a linear increase with the dose (Y=0.11+0.86 D)
