Aluminum content in Bancha tea

Description
Aluminum concentrations of tea leaves of Bancha, Gyokuro, Matcha and powdered Sencha tea have been measured by the proton induced x-ray emission (PIXE) method. In order to observe only light element, a 2.0 MeV helium beam was used. Bancha leaves contain relatively higher aluminum concentrations of around 1,000 ppm compared to other tea leaves. Gyokuro shows the lowest concentration of 240 ppm. Powdered Sencha and Macha contain 390 and 520 ppm, respectively. (author)
