Quantum effects of polarized light propagation through a two photons absorbing gaseous medium

Description
The stationary state of an initially linearly polarized light field after interaction with a resonant two-photon transition between non-degenerate levels is studied. Because the light experiences depolarization this interaction should not be described in the one-mode picture. (orig.)
