Description
Mutations were induced in blackgram [Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper] var. T9 using gamma-rays, ethyl methane sulphonate and their combinations. Ten different types of macro mutants (digitate, narrow leaved, giant, bushy, dwarf, horizontal branching, glabrous, vine type, unifoliate, malesterile) and four micro mutants (high pod bearing, early maturing, brown seeded, short poded) were screened in M2 generation. All the viable mutants breed true in M3 generation. Few mutants recorded significantly higher grain yield as compared to the normal parent. (author)
