Assessment of continence after treatment of anorectal anomalies

To evaluate the ability of MR imaging to assess postoperative continuence, the authors have studies MR images of 21 children after treatment of anorectal anomalies and correlated the MR findings with the results of radiologic studies, manometry, and clinical scores. MR imaging provided an excellent delineation of anorectal sphincter. Developments of anorectal sphincter, disruption of puborectalis, and location of the pull-through intestine were easily assessed on MR imaging.
