Report

Adequacy evaluation of continuous use of scaling factors and average radioactivity concentration on container-filled and solidified waste packages generated from Shika Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1 after FY 2004

Description

The report evaluates the appropriateness of the point of view addressed from Japan Nuclear Fuel Co., an enterprise in charge of radioactive waste disposal, on the terms necessary for technical investigation by JNES when the radioactive waste disposal is carried out. The low-level radioactive wastes produced from Shika Nuclear Power Plants are stored as in container-filled and solidified packages. The radioactivity concentration is estimated by using the same scaling factor value which is rationalized on the basis that the nuclear reactor composing materials have not been largely changed, the fuel damage has not occurred and that isotopic ratio is less than 10 times that the value hitherto used.
