Heat transfer intensification in a rod bundle by means of local swirl promoters

  • 1. Gosudarstvennyj Komitet po Ispol'zovaniyu Atomnoj Ehnergii SSSR, Moscow. Inst. Atomnoj Ehnergii

Description

The results are given of experimental investigations on the crisis of heat removal in rod assemblies with honeycomblike spacing lattices and local intensifier-swirlers positioned discretely along the assembly height. The assemblies were characterized by a complex effect of the flux mass velocity upon critical heat flow. When the mass steam content attained a certain value, the mass velocity in the assemblies was noted to have an inverse effect upon critical heat flow. The investigation results on heat-exchange intensification by means of flux swirling in the interrod space confirmed the efficiency of the above intensifiers in increasing the range of non-critical operation of the assemblies. The experimental data were represented in the form of a dependence of the maximum power upon inlet water teMperature at 74 and 98 bar, respectively, for flux mass velocities of 600, 1000 and 1500 kg/m2 sec
