Description

The radiothermoluminescence (RTL) of pyrene solution 5 x 10-5 M in 3-methylpentane glass γ-irradiated at 77 K was measured. The part of RTL due to geminate recombination of negative pyrene ions was identified and the dependence of this part on photobleaching of trapped electrons was studied. It has been found that the efficiency of electron scavenging by pyrene molecules is larger for photobleached electrons than for thermal electrons. The result discussed within the diffusion model is supposed to be connected with longer track length of the photobleached electron before geminate recombination. (author)
