Studying structure characteristics of Zr5Al4(h) intermetallic compound

Description

A study of more precise structural characteristics of the Zr5Al4 compound has been carried out. The alloy is produced from iodide zirconium containing 99.8% zirconium, and A99 Grade aluminium (GOST 11070-64) containing 99.99% aluminium. Phase X-ray examination is based on Debye powder radiographs. To remove microstresses, the specimens are annealed at 700 deg C during 2 hrs in a vacuum of an order of 10-7 torr. The consistency of specimen phase analysis before and after annealing has been confirmed by the X-ray phase analysis data. The Debye radiographs obtained from the ground single crystals and Zr+19.8% mass Al alloy are found to be identical, i.e. they have equivalent phase analysis. Interplanar spacings data obtained from the powdered single crystal are presented
