Description

The JINR one-meter propan-bubble-chamber data have been used to study the cumulative-proton production accompanied by other protons in π-C interactions at 5 GeV/c. Kinematic correlations, which are observed between a pair of such protons give evidence for a large contribution coming to the proton production from absorption of secondary mesons by a quasideuteron pair in nuclear matter. This mechanism contributed of about 20-25% to production of cumulative protons, with momenta pp ≤ 750 MeV/c
