Coprecipitation of ruthenium low quantities with hydroxides of some metals

Description

Coprecipitation of ruthenium (103Ru) small quantities with hydroxides of titanium, iron, zirconium, alupiniume yttrium, europium and gadolinium from the initial nitric acid solution is studied by the method of radioactive indicators. It is shown that ruthenium coprecipitation depends on the nature of metal hydroxides which according to the increasing sorption capacity are in Ti > Fe > Zr > Y > Gd > Eu > Al series (in acid region). According to their retentivity in the alkaline region hydroxides-collectors correspond to Eu, Gd, Y, Zr > Fe > Ti > Al series. The proposed mechanism of ruthenium coprecipitation with metal hydroxides is discussed. It is shown that ruthenium coprecipitation is conditioned by the presence in the solution of neutral complex forms of ruthenium. Investigation data on the effect of different factors on ruthenium coprecipitation (salt background, micro- and macro-component concentration strange ion effect, etc.) with titanium hydroxide are presented. As a whole, ruthenium coprecipitation with the studied metal hydroxides is explained by the authors from the position of acid-base ion interaction with difficulty soluble precipitates
