Development and tests of fuel elements of fast reactors wits vibroprocessed oxide fuel

Description
Physical, mechanical and process characteristics of the granulated UO2 and UPuO2 fuel were investigated during the work, radiation tests and materials technological researches of experimental and test fuel elements in BOR-60, BN-350, -600 were conducted. Maximum burnup 9.6 % (∼ 10.8 % heavy at. of separate fuel elements) were achieved during tests of fuel elements with the compacted by vibration UPuO2 in BN-600. It is shown that resource of fuel elements is determined by choosing can materials only. Practical realization of armament metallic plutonium conversion in mixed uranium-plutonium oxide fuel based on pyroelectrochemistry and compact by vibration is performed
Abstract (Russian)
В ходе работ изучены физико-механические и технологические характеристики гранулированного UO2 и UPuO2 топлива, проведены радиационные испытания и материаловедческие исследования экспериментальных и опытных твэлов в БОР-60, БН-350, -600. При испытании твэлов с виброуплотненным UPuO2 в БН-600 было достигнуто максимальное выгорание 9.6 % (отдельных твэлов ∼ 10.8 % тяж. ат.). Показано, что ресурс твэлов определяется только выбором материала оболочки. Осуществляется практическая реализация технологии конверсии металлического плутония оружейного качества в смешанное уран-плутониевое оксидное топливо на основе пироэлектрохимии и виброуплотненияAdditional details
