French energy policy: what prospects at the 2020-2050 vista?

The objective of the document requested in 2006 to the Centre of Strategic Analyses by the French prime minister was to 'find the main operational trends and recommendations of public policy in the domain of mastery of energy demand, transports and planning, energy offer and energy market regulation'. A high level commission, presided by J. Syrota, has been created at the Centre of Strategic Analyses, in order to meet this demand. Six working groups, which makes 84 members at a whole, have audited several actors and have developed a reflection around 5 main themes: the lessons learnt from the past, the supply/demand perspectives, the technological changes, the European trends, and the energy scenarios. The version of the report published in April 2007 is a progress report. The final document is expected for September 2007. (J.S.)
