Description
This paper reports on ESRF vacuum system. The countries currently participating in the construction and eventual operation of the new facility are France, FRG, Italy, UK, Spain, Switzerland and a consortium of the four Nordic countries Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. After a construction period of about six and a half years the accelerator complex which produces the X-ray radiation and seven experimental beam lines will be ready. Therefore on this schedule the first experiments to use this new facility begin in 1994. After a further four and a half years a total of 30 beam lines will be operational
