High time and mass reslution with an axial symmetry 252Cf time-of-flight mass spectrometer

Description
A modified 252Cf time-of-flight mass spectrometer, with an electrostatic mirror, has been used to obtain time-of-flight mass measurements with samples of cesium iodide. Negative cesium iodide cluster ions were observed and (CsI2-) peaks presented. The data acquisition system enables an entire mass spectrum to be recorded in a few seconds. (U.K.)
