Ruptures of the quadriceps tendon on MRI

Description
Quadriceps tendon injuries are rare, with 1.37/100 000 cases annually, and occur predominantly after low-energy trauma. Accurate characterisation of the affected portions is important for conservative or surgical management. Falkowski et al. retrospectively analysed MRIs of 52 patients and found that certain tendon parts were more frequently affected and which correlated with more severe injuries.

Verletzungen der Quadrizepssehne sind mit jährlich 1,37/100 000 Fällen selten und kommen überwiegend nach Niedrigenergie-Traumata vor. Die exakte Charakterisierung der betroffenen Anteile ist wichtig für das konservative oder operative Management. Falkowski et al. analysierten retrospektiv MRT von 52 Patienten und fanden heraus, dass bestimmte Sehnenanteile häufiger betroffen waren und welche mit schwereren Verletzungen korrelierten.Additional details
