Plasma rotation in a rippled-field tokamak

  • 1. Rossijskij Natsional'nyj Tsentr 'Kurchatovskij Institut', Moscow (Russian Federation)

Description

The paper deals with further development of the theory of plasma rotation in a rippled field tokamak in a banana regime. It is assumed that such rotation is controlled by the longitudinal viscosity of plasma. The presence of a fast-ion toroidal beam is also taken into account and such presence is characteristic for the experiments with fast neutral injection. A solution is found for the drift kinetic equation for drifting ions taking into account rippled field. This equation enables calculation of drifting ions contribution into poloidal and toroidal viscosity forces. The contribution of locally-trapped ions in these forces is also taken into consideration. An attention is paid to a decisive role of friction effect between drifting and locally-trapped ions in the problem of toroidal plasma velocities determination. 20 refs
