Radiochemical solvent extraction of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) using 51Cr tracer

  • 1. Dept. of Chemistry, Nagpur Univ., Nagpur (India)
  • 2. Univ. of Roorkee, Roorkee (India)

Description

Radiochemical solvent extraction methods have been developed for the determination of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) separately using 51Cr tracer. Cr(III) forms greenish yellow complex with TTA at pH 5 and then extracted into chloroform. Cr(VI) is complexed with N-benzoylphenylhydroxylamine (BPHA) in 1M HCl medium and extracted into EMK. Extraction conditions such as pH, time of equilibration, nature of diluent, quantitative nature of extraction and interferences have been optimised. Accuracy and precision of the method were evaluated. (author)
