Raman spectra of cadmium borate glasses as a function of temperature
Description
Investigation of cadmium borate glasses as a function of temperature has been carried out using Raman scattering technique. With the increase of temperature of the glass samples above the room temperature, the network of boroxol ring is broken into randomly connected BO3 and BO4 tetrahedrals. At x = 0.80 concentration of CdO in ν-B2O3, the cadmium ions take part in the formation of linear polyhedron chain which is very sensitive to the temperature and thus the decrease in intensity of the Raman bands has been observed in the region 300-1600 cm-1 as the temperature is raised to 400 deg C.
