CdWO4, ZnSe and ZnWO4 scintillators for 2β-processes investigations

Description
Characteristics of CdWO4, ZnSe and ZnWO4 scintillators are investigated and their applications for searching for 2β transitions of different Zn, Se, Cd, W isotopes are estimated. For CdWO4 crystal at 661.7 keV energy the resolution is 9.5%, at 1274.5 keV-7.3%, and at 2614.5 keV-5.5%. For ZnSe scintillator, which measures 10x7x5mm, the resolution of 13% for α particles (5.48MeV) and ∼30% for internal conversion electrons (975.6keV) is attained. The α/β ratio for ZnSe is 1±0.1. For ZnWO4 crystal the energy resolution for γ quanta with 59.5 keV energy is 34%, at 661.7keV-11.5%, at 1274.5keV-8.7%. The half-life limit with respect to neutrino-free 2β-decay of 116Cd at confidental probability of 68% is 1.3x1019 years
