Description

Different parameters affecting the extraction of Co (II) from aqueous solutions were studied. These parameters include diluent types, ph of the aqueous phase, dithizone concentration, shaking time, temperature, aqueous to organic phase ratio, interfering ions and stripping agents. The factors studied were optimized and applied to extract and determine Co (II) in a synthetic solution, certified reference samples and geologic samples. Statistics were performed to understand the significance of the data collected and therefore set limitations on each step of the analysis. The final results indicate that the method is accurate and selective.
