On low temperature effect on low cycle fatigue of chromium-nickel steels

Description

An influence of low temperature upon the low-cycle fatigue of Kh18N10T and 000Kh20N16AG6 steels has been studied. In case of low-cycle loading the steel ductility increases as the temperature falls from +20 deg C to -196 deg C. Zones of transition from quasi-static to fatigue failure shift into the region of larger stresses (sigma max/sigmab) and shorter service life. The steel resistance to fatigue failure tends to decrease. The preference is given to 000Kh20N16AG6 steel with a higher resistance to fatigue failure at a temperture of -196 deg C (as opposed to Kh18N10T steel)
