Influence of shape resonances on minima in cross sections for photoionization of excited atoms

Description
A relationship between the location of Cooper minima and the difference between the quantum defect of the initial state and the threshold phase shift (in units of π) of the final state in excited photoionization has been suggested earlier [Phys. Rev. Lett. 48, 473 (1982)]. The existence of a shape resonance in the final state is shown to modify this relationship
