Analysis of EGS4 code system on Alpha AXP computer

Description
The Alpha AXP is a RISC computer that has 64-bit address space and was publicly announced in November 1992. THe Alpha AXP that features Superpipeline and Superscalar brought us an improved performance and an extended address space. We investigated the capability of the Alpha AXP for high energy physics applications. We tried to find out (1) how big a performance level can reach in processing speed and (2) under what condition it can achieve such level of performance. We used an EGS4 program in this study because it is a well known source code for wide range of applications, such as nuclear power plants, medical science, nuclear physics and high energy physics, on many computers.
