Two commercial Si3N4 powders and several sintering aid systems (Y2O3-La2O3; AlN-Y2O3; Al2O3-Y2O3) were chosen to evaluate the influence of powder characteristics, powder processing method (mechanical or chemical mixing) and additive system on the sintering behaviour, microstructure and mechanical properties of dense materials.
