Environmental radioactivity levels, Bellefonte Nuclear Plant, annual report for 1981
Description
The Bellefonte Nuclear Plant (BLN), being constructed by the Tennessee Valley Authority, is located in Jackson County, Alabama, on a peninsula bounded on the west by Town Creek embayment and on the east by Guntersville Reservoir at Tennessee River Mile (TRM) 391.5. The site is approximately 6 miles (10 kilometers) northeast of Scottsboro, Alabama. The plant will consist of two pressurized water reactors; each unit is rated at 3620 MWt and 1271 MWe. Fuel load in Unit 1 is scheduled for no earlier than 1983. A preoperational environmental radiological monitoring program was implemented in August 1978. This program has the objective of establishing a baseline of data on the distribution of natural and manmade radioactivity in the environment near the plant site. This report presents the results obtained from that program during 1981
