Description
β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) was grafted on multiwall carbon nanotubes(MWCNT) by using plasma techniques. The new material of MWCNT-β-CD composites can adsorb radionuclides quickly. Effects of pH, contact time and ionic strength on the adsorption of Eu(III)to MWCNT-β-CD composites were investigated. The results indicate that the sorption of Eu(III)from aqueous solution is fast and more than 95% Eu(III)is adsorbed to MWCNT-β-CD composites. The adsorption capacity of MWCNT-β-CD composites is about 80 mg/g for Eu(III)calculated from the adsorption isotherms. Other ions and their concentrations have no obvious effect on adsorption of Eu(III)onto composite material of MWCNT-β-CD. (authors)
