Research on simultaneous fire risk analysis method for nuclear power plants
- 1. National Maritime Research Inst., Mitaka, Tokyo (Japan)
Description
As at the Kobe Earthquake the simultaneous fires caused by earthquake will do a great secondary damage to the related district. If the earthquake of rather small scale and more frequent occurrence caused simultaneous fires at nuclear power plants and the fires damaged safety function of plants, it would bring about nuclear accidents. So it is important to establish simultaneous fire risk analysis method for nuclear power plants. We have started an investigation on simultaneous fire initiation scenario caused by earthquake, fire propagation analysis code to evaluate component damages, code validation with cable fire experiments, and code application to sample plant.
