Nuclear fusion by turbulent thermal insulation

  • 1. General Atomic Company, San Diego, California (United States)

Description

A new type of fusion device, in which plasma pressure is contained inertially and electron turbulence is used to reduce thermal conductivity of plasma, is proposed. Order of magnitude estimates show that this method requires less input energy than the pure inertial confinement method. (author)
