Radiothermoluminescence of ionomers. Copolymers of styrene with methacrylic acid, its protons being substituted for lanthanide ions (Tb3+, Dy3+, Eu3+)

Description

A polyacid is obtained by the method of radical copolymerization of styrol with methacrylic acid with a monomer ratio of 9/1 and its corresponding salt (ionomer) with cations of lanthanoids (Tb3+, Dy3+, Eu3+) and their radiothermoluminescence (RTL) is investigated. The RTL curve has a non-elementary maximum at 120 K. Substitution of hydrogen of acid groups in the copolymer for ions of lanthanoids does not essentially change the form of the RTL curve. ''Bleaching'' by visible light leads not only to a decrease in the intensity of RTL, but also to its redistribution - the RTL maximum lies at the temperature of the inflection on the right-hand branch of the ''unbleached'' curve, at the point of the former maximum an inflection remains. It is shown that ions Tb3+, Dy3+, Eu3+ are emitters of RTL over the whole curve. In ionomers containing Eu3+, on the low-temperature section of the RTL curve, in addition to red emission by Eu3+ there is blue luminescence. It is concluded that the main contribution to the formation of the RTL curve is made by reacceleration of styrol fragments
