Plume dynamics of laser ablated plasmas

  • 1. Dept. of Physics and Centre for Laser Technology, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (India)

Description

The interaction of laser produced plasmas with the ambient gases is gaining importance in the thin film deposition of superconductors and other oxides. In the present experiment a Q-switched Nd:Y AG (DCR-4G, Spectra Physics) laser with pulse width of 5 ns at full width half maximum (FWHM), laser energy 6, 23, and 50 mJ (for different targets) at a repetition rate of 10 Hz, operating at 355 nm was used for creating plasma in vacuum, and in presence of oxygen and helium ambient gases
