Radiation safety management for RT facilities (2015~2017)

Description

The objective of radiation safety control program of ARTI is to ensure radiation safety by limiting the probability of stochastic effects below the acceptable ALARA levels as well as preventing detrimental deterministic effects attributed to radiation exposure to KAERI personnel who handle the radiation and/or radioactive materials in the process of R&D projects and operation of nuclear facilities in KAERI. This is a mandatory program which should be performed by the license according to the laws and regulations on the national radiation protection. In order to achieve these objectives of the radiation safety control program, following main activities have been carried out on a regular basis. The results of radiation safety and control programs are as follows : - The radiation working environment has been controlled and the radiation levels have been maintained below the acceptable limits through the periodic measurements and monitoring of air, surface and water contamination, exhaust monitoring, dose and the access control of the radiation workers. - The reading total number of regular radiation workers is 523 in 2017. No individual received an exposure in excess of the annual dose limits set in the relevant regulation of the Atomic Energy Act. - In order to secure safety and to protect the workers against radiation, training courses on fundamental radiation protection were conducted in which a total of 152 workers participated
