SIM: a one-dimensional two-fluid computer program to investigate the numerical solution scheme used in the SIMMER program
Description
SIMMER is widely used to model post fuel pin failure events of a Fast Reactor Accident. To investigate the numerical solution scheme used to solve the large number of differential equations, a much simplified version SIM has been produced. The equation system, finite difference representation and solution scheme are described for a single component (material) two fluid system with the liquid phase assumed to be incompressible and the gas phase an ideal gas. Results are in good agreement with theoretical values. The equation set is extended to include the full energy conservation equations of the two fluids, extending the range of the program. (UK)
