Radwaste filtration and particle distribution

  • 1. California State Univ., Fullerton

Description

Nuclear power plant radwaste systems remove a variety of materials including corrosion products, resins, detergents, filter materials, dusts, and organic materials. The types, sources, and size distribution of solid particulate matter present in radwaste water streams are evaluated. It is concluded that the filter element micron rating should be approximately three times the particle size at peak concentration to assure both high porosity and efficient filtration. (HDR)
